Jennifer received her B.S. in Chemistry from Eastern Illinois University (1996), followed by a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry while working with Professor Jeffrey Aube at the University of Kansas (2002). Following her postdoctoral work at Stanford University with Professor Paul Wender (2004), she joined Amgen in the division of small molecule drug discovery. Seeking to expand her personal research endeavors, Jennifer joined the University of Kansas Specialized Chemistry Center in 2008 as its Assistant Director during which time she oversaw the medicinal chemistry development activities of over 40 projects and 10 junior chemists. During the same time, Jennifer launched her independent academic career that included pursuing and landing independent grants, publishing her group’s scientific work and rising to the appointment of Higuchi Biosciences Associate Research Professor with a courtesy appointment in the KU Department of Medicinal Chemistry. In 2015, Jennifer joined the University of Wisconsin--Madison as an Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Associate Director of the UW-Madison Medicinal Chemistry Center. Her research group focuses on synthetic methodology development and the medicinal chemistry optimization of probes, leads and therapeutic agents that are useful in areas of infectious disease and cancer.
